The teachers will be placed in schools in the regions they apply to to help in implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC).

The Commission's guideline for the recruitment of intern teachers for the financial year 2024/2025 shall apply.

In May, JSS teachers had staged a 3-week nationwide strike that disrupted learning in schools. TSC attempted to sack the striking teachers but later withdrew termination letters, and agreed to hire them on a permanent and pensionable basis from July 2024.

The government was unable to hire the teachers due to budget cuts that were announced by the President after the collapse of the Finance Bill 2024.

Recently, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced that JSS teachers will have to wait till January 2025 to get the much awaited permanent and pensionable jobs.
