The Kenya Prisons Service is a division of the Ministry of Interior and National Government Coordination.
The Kenya Prisons Service is a division of the Ministry of Interior and National Government Coordination. It makes a significant contribution to public safety and security by ensuring the safe custody of all persons lawfully committed to prison facilities and facilitating the rehabilitation of custodial sentenced offenders for community reintegration.
Open Positions in Kenya Prisons
Eligibility Criteria for Kenya Prisons Service Recruitment
Interested candidates are required to meet the following criteria;
You must be a Kenyan citizen
You should have a valid National Identification Card
You should not have a criminal record
Be aged between 18-30 years for diploma/certificate holders
Be aged between 18 and 30 years for degree holders
Be aged between 18 and 32 years for medical consultants
You should at least be 5 feet 4 inches tall for men and 5 feet 2 inches tall for women
Be physically and medically fit
You must have good hearing and clear vision
Female candidates MUST not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and during the entire training period.
NOTE:
Candidates will go through an intensive Government-sponsored paramilitary initial training course that will last at least nine (9) months for technicians and thirteen (13) months for general cadet officers.
The recruitment process will be completely FREE of charge.
Bribery and other forms of corruption are prohibited. Anyone who presents themselves for recruitment with falsified or fake academic/professional certificates or identity cards, or who engages in any acts that amount to corruption, SHALL be disqualified, arrested, and prosecuted.
Members of the public are warned that recruitment will only take place at the listed recruitment center and on the specified day. Anyone claiming to be issuing calling letters outside of the recruiting center should be treated as a criminal.
On the day of the interview, prospective candidates MUST bring their original National identification card, birth certificate, KRA PIN certificate, academic certificates, and other testimonials.
Academic and Technical Qualifications
Medical Practitioners
Interested candidates must;
Have a minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE
Have an undergraduate/post-graduate degree from a recognized institution of higher learning
Be registered with the relevant statutory bodies.
General Cadets
Interested candidates must;
Have a minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE
Have a relevant undergraduate degree from a recognized institution of higher learning;
Medical Technicians
Interested candidates must;
Have a minimum mean grade of C (Plain) at KCSE or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and /or
Possess a relevant diploma/certificate from a recognized institution
Be registered with the relevant statutory bodies where applicable.

Interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply by submitting the PSC.2 (REVISED 2016) application form, which can be downloaded from https://www.publicservice.go.ke/, along with clear photocopies of relevant academic/professional certificates and their National identification cards.
