The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs has announced that it is recruiting Kenyans who will serve as enumerators.
An enumerator is a professional who gathers citizen data for the Census by visiting specific households. He or she needs skills in navigation for efficient travel, customer service for effective interviewing, technology for data collection and analysis and foreign language proficiency to communicate with diverse communities.
The individual visits neighbourhoods and households with records not recorded in the Census and collects as well as records demographic information, such as age, religion and location from residents.
Additionally, the enumerator tracks the kilometres travelled on the routes for home visits, calculates expenses and hours productive for every workday and examines interview data as well as address records to ensure correctness.
“The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs will be recruiting casuals for twenty-one (21) days to serve as enumerators to carry out data collection in the counties of Uasin Gishu (658), Bomet (521), Nyeri (312), Nakuru (1,002), Siaya (495), Kiambu (833), Nandi (432), Nairobi (1,495), Embu (276), Busia (730), Trans Nzoia (425) and Kericho (380),” the job notice by the State Department read in part.
