Government Announces 4,000 Paid Internship Vacancies; How to Apply

The Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Ministry of Education have posted 3,000  and 1,000 paid internship slots respectively, with applications ending on August 9. 

According to a notice issued by PSC on Tuesday, July 19, the internship includes multiple different government agencies, including ministries and schools.

PSC 3,000 Internship Vacancies

The hiring by the Public Service Commission is part of the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP), which was established to provide graduates with the opportunity to obtain and improve critical technical and professional skills, as well as job experience.

The current recruiting is for the PSIP's fifth cohort for the fiscal year 2022-2023.

The internship will last for 12 months and is non-renewable.

Qualified applicants will be placed in a range of government ministries, departments, and organizations, where they will learn valuable technical and professional skills as well as public-sector employment experience.

Eligibility Requirements for PSC Advertised Internships

To be qualified, 

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree from an authorized university in any subject.
  • You must be computer literate and have graduated not earlier than 2017.

The application date is August 9, 2022.

Duties for PSC Internships

Those chosen for the internship program will have to complete the responsibilities assigned to them by their supervisors.

They will also be required to actively participate in any relevant mentorship activities and other obligations assigned to the program. 

How to Apply for PSC Open Positions

Applications by interested applicants must be done online via www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.

In order to be considered for the vacancies, applicants must meet the requirements above.

The Commission further stated that each application will be evaluated based on its qualities, emphasizing the necessity of an unbiased selection process.

Stipend

As remuneration, the interns will receive a stipend at a rate determined by the PSC.

Ministry of Education 1,000 Internship Vacancies

The Ministry of  Education under The State Department for Early Learning and Basic Education has also offered 1000 internship positions.

Successful applicants will be hired and deployed to various schools as part of the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP).

Eligibility Requirements for Ministry of Education Advertised Internships

To qualify for the open positions;

  • One must not have graduated before 2018. 
  • The applicant must hold a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in information technology, an ICT degree, a certification in ICT, or a certificate in ICT integration in education from an accredited institution. 
  • The applicant needs to be knowledgeable in project management, application development, networking and infrastructure, and information security. 
  • The applicant must be able to incorporate ICT into education through the creation of online courses and other content.

Duties for Ministry of Education Internships

The tasks include, but are not restricted to;

  • Supporting E-Learning and content creation in accordance with work plans.
  • Supporting classrooms and training primary school teachers on how to use digital literacy tools.
  • Encouraging the program for digital learning to be implemented.
  • Implementing technologies to help schools maximize their usage of digital learning.
  • Assisting instructors by incorporating ICT in the delivery of teaching, learning, and assessment. Support the ethical, safe, and responsible use of technology in learning.
  • Helping the faculty of the school establish and produce important school policies and procedures.
  • Providing first-line support and maintenance of ICT services for schools.

How to Apply for Ministry of Education Open Positions

Graduates who are interested and qualified should apply via the Commission's employment portal, which can be found at www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.  

The application deadline is August 9, 2022.
