The State Department of Labour and Skills Development, in collaboration with Kenyatta University's Chandaria Business Innovation and Incubation Centre, has announced a call for applications for the National Young Innovators Entrepreneurship Training Program (Phase II), which will be delivered virtually.
The program is based on the STEP (Students Training on Entrepreneurial Program) concept, which is a research-based and hands-on training program. The STEP model consists of twelve modules of training, each with a practical component focused on developing real-world businesses.
The modules include opportunity identification, development plan, product description, customer analysis, competitor analysis, industry analysis, company description, business strategy, operations plans, finding starting capital, investment plan, starting capital plan, cash management, financial plan, bookkeeping, marketing plan, critical risks, and risk management, and business plan writing. In addition, ICT will be included in the program.
In the year 2021/2022, 400 youths were trained under this program.
The program will last for a period of 12 months with a possible extension.
The program aims to provide young innovators with the entrepreneurial skills necessary to launch successful businesses based on their innovations.
